Questions about Nuvi 755T

I currently have a nuvi 255T but recently ordered a 755T primarily for the ability to save 10 routes (which the 255T doesn't have). However, I have a couple questions that online reviews and youtube video reviews haven't answered yet (I even checked 760 and 765 reviews since they're all the same only difference being North America / Europe / Bluetooth ability).

1. Does the 755T ever delay while reading out directions? I've found with long sentences my 255T will talk like "turn right...... onto...... I-69 then keep.... left" with a second or two delay in between some of the words.

2. Does the 755T lock up as often as the 255T? I've found from time to time it'll hang and if I power off and on it'll remember the last destination and resume as if nothing happened but it's still a little annoying.

2. How is MP3 playback handled while it's reading out directions? Is the playback paused, reads out directions, then resumes or is both the MP3 and the directions being heard at the same time (perhaps with the MP3 at a lower volume)?

Re: Questions about Nuvi 755T

Hi,
I bought mine in December '09.Its never delayed while giving out directions that I've noticed. Its never locked up on me either. It has on a couple of occasions given me a questionable route choice, but I've seen this with all GPS systems I've used.I haven't used the MP3 function but from what I've read it pauses to give directions and then resumes after where it left off.

Re: Questions about Nuvi 755T

FrankL, kind of amazing. I use the MP3 player on my nuvi 750 through the FM radio. And the instructions cut off the MP3 so I can clearly hear them. Then the MP3 comes back on.

But I have never paid any attention to whether it is resuming or simply audible again after being suppressed. I always assumed the MP3 kept going in the background with its volume lowered, but now I don't know!

Text-to-Speech does have small delays between phonemes, but I have never found it to be enough to comment about, so I suspect yours is worse than normal.

Lots of people complain about lock-up (all brands of GPS, not just a specific make or model). Knock-on-wood, it has never happened to me. I do not want to experience that.

Re: Questions about Nuvi 755T

Guess I'll find out soon enough... had one delivered but it turned out to have a defective touch screen (I'd press a button in one place and it thought I pressed another button which according to various forums is not unheard of). Fortunately the place I bought it from has a decent exchange policy and I'll have another unit delivered to me on Monday.

Re: Questions about Nuvi 755T

For those who were curious, it appears this unit pauses the MP3 to read out navigation directions and then resumes the MP3 from where it left off. So you don't miss out on a part of the song (or an audible book which it also supports) which makes sense. Of note though it seems to have a limit to the length of the MP3 as I put in a couple of 10+ minute mini-concerts and it's stops before the end and goes onto the next file.

Re: Questions about Nuvi 755T

I have a 760 and yes the mp3's pause and resume plus if you are having lock-ups do a hard reset. I had big issues after the latest 4.9 update. Did a reset and now it runs smoother, locates satellites faster and is accurate to 10 feet. So it cured a host of issues. I have had the unit for maybe 2 years.
