San Diego

I'm using my UK purchased Garmin nuvi 265w with USA & Canada maps on SD card in the USA. I have used this combination in Florida, Nevada, Arizona without any problems. I'm currently in San Diego.CA and I keep loosing satelites, usually at the most crucial time.

Has anyone else experienced this problem. I'm fairly new to GPS and as this is the first time I've experienced this sort of problem I wonder are there dead spots or do I have a problem with the unit. (intermitent fault)
Is there a problem in this particular area.

Any help or advce will be appreciated.

Re: San Diego

joemb, be sure that you've reset your Garmin nüvi 265W to local time and location settings - this tells the nuvi which satellites to look for in the sky. There should be settings for this in your Tools menu. A hard reboot can do the same thing, but is overkill - best to just change the time & location settings. I'd give you the page numbers in the Owner's Manual, but the Garmin website seems to be missing the manuals for download....

Re: San Diego

Thanks for the response. I negotiated from San Diego to Palm Springs without incident and the unit is working well here.

Re: San Diego

joemb, I'm glad your nuvi is working well again. Did it just start working properly on its own again, or did you change the settings?

Re: San Diego

It just started working again. All the time we were in San diego it played up. Once we cleared the area no problems and it took us straight to our destination.

As I said earlier, it has served us well in other areas of the USA except in "San Diego" - Strange!

Re: San Diego

No wonder I get so lost around here!

Interesting experience. I haven't noticed it being any different here in San Diego. But honestly, I use my GPS most when travelling elsewhere, so how would I notice?
