How (and where) do I connect the DR cable?

Hi everybody, I own a GARMIN SP2650 (modified 2610) and later purchased the DR (Dead reckoning) cable (2 wires in it) which is to be connected to the speedometer (or VSS, vehicle speed sensor) and reverse light switch. Now the question is, while I have no questions regarding where the second wire has to go (the one that is to be connected to the reverse light switch), I have some problems in determining where the first wire shall be connected: I know (as stated on the GARMIN manual) that this wire is supposed to be connected to the speed sensor (not the one that comes from the ABS control) but where exactly? My car is the FORD FUSION (European market model) and has the trip computer. I suppose that the trip computer is actually receiving some sort of electronic signal from a speed sensor located somewhere in order to display the car's speed. The SP 2610 (or 2650) is actually capable of using both "square wave" and "sine wave" signals, as a matter of facts. Has anyone used/installed such a cable (DR) in his/her car? Thank you for any help.
