755, 765, & 775 the same?

was just looking at compare in the garmin site, the 775 and 765 seem to be identical, no different features at all?

And, the only difference between the 755 and the other two is the 755 is missing BT?

Did miss something?

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

Garmin's comparison doesn't show much difference.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/compare....eProduct=14925

755 doesn't have bluetooth.
765 and 775 have bluetooth support
775 has a "transatlantic" basemap, which is North America and Europe.
765 has North America only

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

LOL, MTalvola!

I concur with Andy's summary of the three models. I will add that the nüvi 765T is available in 7 models that cover different regions of the world. The one Heat00 would be interested in is North America (SKU # 010-00715-20). The 755T is available in 2 models, North America (SKU # 010-00715-30) and Europe. It's really cool that the 775T is loaded with full versions of City Navigator North America NT and City Navigator Europe NT, but that's only useful to Heat00 if he plans to travel across the big pond.

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

it doesnt make sense. is there something wrong with the 765?

In best buy site:

765= 199
755= 499
775= 799

Traffic and Weather Updates|Garmin : GPS Navigation - BestBuy

how can this be: if the 765 is better than the 755 (only bluetooth is the difference), how can it be $300 more, shouldn't it be less? lol. and if the 775 and 765 are the same, only europe maps added which doesn't affect me but even if it did, how could it be $600 more just for different maps??

is the 199 at best buy a good deal or is there a problem with this model?

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

Perhaps the problem is where you're looking? Best Buy's prices are often times baffling, though sometimes they are the lowest on a particular product (like the 765T). On Amazon.com, the prices are much more reasonable for those three models:Don't forget that the 775T comes with two full mapsets, which helps to account for the greater cost. You could spend about the same amount of money buying a storage card and a full map set to match the features.

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

yes, so the 765 at best buy for 199 is actually cheaper than amazon. seems to be the best price. how can they charge 799 for the 775t LMAO

i was going to get the 1490t and try to use it for bt but i read a lot of really bad reviews in general... does anyone use any of these with BT? is it useable while driving (highway speeds etc)?

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

Buyer beware!

That's why it's so important to shop around.... Note that the $207 price on Amazon includes shipping (actually, free shipping on that offer). I didn't check to see about shipping on the Best Buy listing.

BTW, Heat00 - it sounds like you've definitely decided against the 1490T?

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

I'm just so confused at this point. it will go on forever if I don't decide now lol.

i like the 5" screen and 35% louder speaker, this must help for BT????

what I also don't like about the 765t (like my wifes 255WT) is that detail is much less than my old garmin whatever model. it doesn't show all street names anymore and seems like it hardly shows any.

isn't this going backwards and defeating the purpose of nav to begin with.

again i use for work and sometimes have to drive around... need to see all the street names, not every 4th one.

how could garmin make this mistake?? I'm told the older 760 has much more detail (street names) than the newer 7x5 series??

thats just weird.

guess they we can't have everything, going to have to make a leap of faith sometime and just deal with what I get.

again, the BT is a big issue.

don't have it built into this car any more and i tried the moto bt device and couldn't stand it....

would really like to have an answer on if the 765 bt is actually useable for everyday high useage?
if not, is the 1490 a better choice?

still leaning towards 765t.

going to check amazon now if it includes shipping

HumVee, thanks again for all of your input and patience with me and my undecive a$$.

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

Heat00, it's true that all new Garmin GPS road map units show less street name detail. This is even true if you have the map detail settings set to "High." However, all that data is there and easily accessible. From either the overhead 2D map view or the 3D map view, you can simply tap on the streets you see to get a pop-up with information regarding that location. If you want to scan further ahead, you just drag your finger on the screen to move the map view, and then tap on a point to get details about that location. While it's very annoying to have the option to view all street names of every street on the map taken away from us, the new method isn't really all that bad to adjust to. I think that Garmin made this choice to make redrawing the map as you travel a faster/smoother experience - all that extra clutter on the map display would bog things down....

As to Bluetooth capability of the units, I doubt that there's a great deal of difference between any of them (but the newest units might have the most up-to-date Bluetooth versions, and therefore the best compatibility with newer devices, etc.). Really, I recommend that you make your decision on one of these models, then use the heck out of it and try out all the features you feel are important before your return window closes. If you really don't like the unit, ship it back and try for something else. Frankly, I think you'd be delighted with any of them - so if you can't decide, flip a coin!

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

Buy it here:

Walmart.com: Garmin Nuvi 765T GPS Navigation w/ 4.3" Screen, Spoken Street Names, Stereo Bluetooth, Lifetime Traffic, FM Transmitter: GPS & Navigation

Don't like it? Return it in person and save the postage. There's always a Walmart nearby...

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

What MTalvola suggests is certainly an option, Heat00 - but adds nearly a hundred dollars to the cost. Is there any reason why you're unwilling to order online? I don't think you'll get anywhere near the $200 price for the 765T at a local retailer versus BestBuy.com or Amazon.com. Items can be returned to online retailers as well - just save your packaging and contact them for an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). And don't register the product or send in warranty cards until you're sure you want to keep it.

Amazon is super easy on returns. Print out the pre-paid postage right from their website.

Re: 755, 765, & 775 the same?

yup, thats exactly what I'm donig tonight. yes, I'm finally purchasing a unit, the 765t. Amazon is actually cheaper because of the shipping so I'm pulling the trigger.
I was at bb today playing with the few units they had there (similar models). I'm not even sure why becuase I installed a 255wt in my wifes truck and its great. traffic works very well.
Now I'm excited and I'm almost positive I will keep the unit I buy. unless it is defective in some way.
If the BT works and useable then great, if not then whatever. I'll get an earpiece or something.

I was spoiled by my last car, it was an 08m3 and I got it with navi and Bt built in. the Nav sucked but the BT was great. having it built into the car is so much better than any aftermarket option. I'm hoping the 765 BT is decent as I really only need it sometimes when I'm listing to vm's or writing something down. I'm in sales so having bt and nav is very important, that's why I've bugged the hec out of you guys with all these details and questions.

I will definetly post my opinions and thoughts (if anyone cares

Heat00, we're happy to help you gather the information you needed to decide - and glad you've made a choice! Please do post your experiences and opinions regarding your new nuvi 765T and the free traffic update service. Remember that you have up to 60 days from first satellite aqcuisition to check Garmin's site for a free map update. I'm almost certain that we'll still be on update 2010.40 (that just came out) - but it doesn't hurt to wait...unless you miss the deadline!

Firmware updates for the device itself are free - for as long as Garmin chooses to provide firmware updates for that specific model. When a model is classified on Garmin's web site as "discontinued," then I wouldn't expect any more updates for it.

The free update I was referring to is the map update. Normally, you have to pay for map updates, but Garmin gives you one free one if a newer version than what is loaded on your device comes out within 60 days of your first use of the device. As to what version ships with the device, I would guess whatever version was current when the device left the factory. You may want to consider purchasing a Garmin nüMaps Lifetime North America Map Update subscription for your device (once you know you're going to keep it). It's about a hundred dollars.

Don't be so sure on that one. Garmin just released a firmware update for the 600 series in the last few months. I know my 660 has been discontinued for almost 2 years. They also had an update for the discontinued 700 series in the later part of last year as well...
