| Garmin C330 Map CN North America NT 2010 Glitch
I am from the north part of Michigan and I have a C330 that I purchased online. it came with City Navigator North America NT v8. I needed to Update the Maps and well, obviously, I would have to download it through the Garmin Website. I tried all of the different torrents that explained in all simplicity that their torrent was an easy update. Everytime that I tried to download mapsource or mapinstall, ect. and tried to run setup, it would not allow me to run it because I didnt have an original source. I found away around that by downloading garmin training center. Now, this may be old news to some, but for those of you who are still dealing with this, once I downloaded and installed the training center I was able to install Mapsource, mapinstall, ect. Then, of course, I was able to obtain a copy of the CN North America NT 2010 and was able to install the entire updated map onto my Garmin C330 with the addition of a 2GB Sandisk Card. The Map fit and it appeared that I had finally updated my map and all was well. However, after a couple of uses, I found that there was a glitch in the software and that when I would program a destination, in many cases it would want to take me down to the indian boarder and all the way back up to my destination. Has anyone run into this same issue? If so, what is causeing this and how do i fix it?

| Re: Garmin C330 Map CN North America NT 2010 Glitch SsbTwentyTwo, what you are so kindly explaining is illegal. Not the installing MapSource portion - the Training Center workaround for installing MapSource when you don't have a City Navigator DVD has been known for a long time and is no big deal. But if you got a Garmin map update by Torrenting, then it was stolen. Garmin doesn't use torrent peer to peer downloads as a method for legitimately distributing their product. What people choose to do for themselves is their own moral choice - but the forum administrators here heavily frown upon people discussing that kind of activity. Also, many torrents are loaded with trojans, worms or other malware, and if users aren't saavy enough to know that, they can get themselves into a world of trouble (aside from illegally downloading copyrighted material). Since this is an illegitimate map update, I'm not surprised that you might encounter issues. My suggestion to you would be to purchase a Garmin nüMaps Lifetime North America Map Update or Garmin nüMaps Onetime City Navigator North America NT Map Update for your Garmin StreetPilot C330 and install it. Then, if you have problems, you can contact Garmin Support with the issue. You'd also be helping to pay for future map updates, like the rest of us. I'm really not trying to slap you down for how you are trying to update your C330 - but just educate you and other forum members. It's silly to expect that you can take something without paying for it, and then expect support for it if it doesn't work. It's my personal opinion that we need pay for the quality products we want, if we wish to see those products continue to be developed and improved. If you don't want to pay for a product, that's fine - just look for legitimate free third party options. You won't find that many, and they won't be nearly the quality or scope of the professional product - but they are legal. I understand you may have an different opinion from me, and welcome discussion - but let's keep it civil and not start a flame war. |

Thank you for your input, I believe I may have mislead you by implying that I downloaded the Map through a Torrent. To clearify, I checked to see if Torrents were available and it appeared that many were, however, I found that many of them were not available or did not work at all. After I purchased a copy through Garmin, I found this problem with my maps. I have run my anti-virus, anti-malware removers but have found nothing. I have reported this to Garmin but have not seeing a response yet. I do not know what is causeing this but thought I would throw it out here to see if anyone else has had any issues with this. |

Have you checked your Avoidances (Page 21 of the Owner's Manual), to see if any of those settings could be causing the route deviation? Try turning off all Avoidances, and see what happens. If the routing improves, you can slowly turn back on the selections until you find which one is causing the behavior. Also, can you list your Route (starting and ending point, and any via points inbetween)? I can try mapping the route on my zumo 660, which has City Navigator North America NT 2010 loaded, and see how it behaves.... |
