Street Pilot 2610 problems.

I am having problems with my 2610 that has served me well over the years. The unit will boot up and locate, but the touchscreen functions will not work. It will not zoom in or out and the screen is rapidly moving left and right in a jerking motion. While driving sometimes the location is not centered on the screen.
A couple of months ago I was out of state and was running a route to home the unit was working, but when I tried to find services it wanted to take me over 100 miles off route to the services when I knew there was services 20-30 miles ahead on the route I had programed. Yes my mapping software is old but not that old.
I have been to the Garmin website and reloaded firmware and have removed and memory card a few times.
Can anyone help me with this? Thank you in advance

Re: Street Pilot 2610 problems.

The screen moving right and left sounds like some part of the touchscreen thinks it's being pressed. Is there a setting to calibrate the touchscreen? Also look closely around the edges of the screen for any debris under the edge of the frame around the screen.

I have heard of another 2610 which had the touchscreen fail. I don't know what the specifics of the problem that person had though.

You might try contacting Garmin as well. They may have some ideas.

Re: Street Pilot 2610 problems.

Problem solved. Andy I think you were right with the idea of dirt causing pressure on the screen.
I cleaned the screen with a wet cloth and then used a tooth brush to clean the edge of the screen.
This unit has seen thousands of miles on a motorcycle and would be a much dirtier enviroment than inside a veihicle. From now on I will clean the screen from time to time.
Thanks Andy.
