Newbee Question 765T and Routes

Hi All,
At work we have two GPSMap 60CSx units with the newest City Navigator NT software. We just ordered a nuvi 765t. The thing I like best about the GPSMap units is the ability to edit a route on the pc and download the route to the 60CSx exactly as I want the route to be, no massaging of the route by the gps unit. Is it possible to do the same with the nuvi 765t? In addition, is there an easy way to import all my waypoints from my gdb file into the 765t?

Thanks!
Jeff

Re: Newbee Question 765T and Routes

Jeffr, I have a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx, which is nearly identical to the 60CSx. When dealing with City Navigator road maps, the device still calculates the routes - you can see the calculation completion percentage when you select the route you want to load. The only way I've gotten it to follow the exact route I want (which often isn't the most direct or fastest, because I enjoy back road motorcycle adventures) is to use MapSource to add a whole bunch of additional via points to the route to guarantee which roads will be chosen. Fortunately, the Route Tool in MapSource makes it pretty easy.

As to the second part of your question...the beauty of sticking with Garmin products is that you can do it all the same! If you're using MapSource to manage your 60CSx's, simply unplug them from the USB cable and plug in the Garmin nüvi 765T and you can do the exact same thing to transfer files back and forth.

Sure thing, Jeffr! I'm not sure that I made it clear, but yes - you can take waypoints and other data from your saved GDB file on your PC and transfer it to any of your Garmin devices using MapSource.
