| What Have I Done? Noob Needs Help
Ok, I have a Garmin Nuvi 255W and I have no idea what i'm doing.  I opened the GPX folder on the device and copied a GPX file that I had downloaded to the device.  Then, after detaching from the computer, I turn the device on and it says "Loading Maps" for quite some time so I turn it off and now it appears to be dead! Nothing, won't turn on, won't give me the charging screen when I reattach to the computer and can't access from the computer.  Please, any help on getting this thing back to life would be much appreciated. |

Look in your owners manual for a "reset" sequence of buttons to push. This may work? |

| Re: What Have I Done? Noob Needs Help Hannibal, did you make a backup copy of your Garmin folder before you started monkeying around? That's always a good idea. Did you try doing a master reset, as DrData101 suggested? Any luck? If you've got a bad GPX file (which is not the map file, BTW), you should still be able to place the device into mass storage mode and delete the file.... |
