Nuvi 550 Resume a Route Question

I created a route for a trip that will take us through a few states. I have also loaded several POIs that we may want to check out as time and interest allows. Here is the question: If we start out on our route and then decide to check out a POI, how do I resume the interrupted route?

bitshifter, since you're just using one of the 10 Custom Routes you can store on your Garmin nüvi 550, I think you could just Edit that route on the fly and Add the POI that you're interested in visiting. Then your next waypoint from that location would put you back on course for your journey. Page 11 of the Owner's Manual discusses adding and removing 'Points' from your Custom Route. Do you want to try that out? Some models of Garmin automobile GPS units have a 'Detour' feature which temporarily allows you to diverge from your intended course of travel, and then resume it later - but I didn't see that ability for this model. What I just suggested should work fine instead....
