Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

Does anyone know if it is possible to save my trip log from my GPS to my computer? I know I can do screen shots but I would like to save the entire route.

Yes, just import your track into MapSource.

How do you do screen shots of the 750?

According to the manual,

Tools
Settings
Display

Then enable Screen Shots

Looks like it creates an image file in a folder on the device for you to retrieve later.

I am honestly uncertain if I know how to import the track into Mapsource. Where is Mapsource? I thought it was already in my GPS. Is it a website or an external application? Remember, I am still a nuvi, I mean newbie !

mrmcsmitty, MapSource is the free program Garmin provides so you can use your maps with your PC: Garmin: Updates & Downloads (third download from the top)

Once you have it installed, there are buttons (that do the opposite of what they look like they would do) that import and export from your GPS. You can transfer any combination of maps, waypoints, routes and tracks.

Re: Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

I tried to install mapsource but it would not as it tells me that I do not have any mapsource products. Do I need to purchase another map other than what my GPS has in it in order to use this mapsource?

Re: Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

MapSource does need an unlocked map to install. But you can get around it. If you download a free app from Garmin and install that on your computer, MapSource will then work. I'll try to find the old thread that discusses this.

Found it. Download Training Center: Garmin: Training Center Software Update Collection and install it. Then MapSource should be happy.

Please let us know if this still works.

Re: Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

I got a nuvi 750 last year, but didn't get a free mapsource. I called them several times but garmin reps said I would have to pay for it.

Re: Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

You don't have to use Mapsource to get the tracklog file from a 750. The log file itself is available if you navigate to the directory (I forget which one it stores it in) on the device itself. Then it can be loaded into Google Earth for example.

Joe if you want Mapsource, you can do what dav mentioned in post 7.

Re: Nuvi 750, saving trip logs ?

simmojo, I just tried it (downloading the latest MapSource and Training Center installers) - and it worked like a charm! You have to install Training Center first, or MapSource will tell you that there's nothing to update....
