Nuvi 765t headphone jack/audio-line out

I have ordered the Nuvi 765t and want to know if the line-out jack is used if that mutes the internal speaker? I want to send the line-out to my car stereo (using PIE aux adapter) but also want to leave the internal speaker volume on.

Re: Nuvi 765t headphone jack/audio-line out

It mutes the internal speaker when using the audio out jack, as does virtually every portable electronic device I have used.......

Re: Nuvi 765t headphone jack/audio-line out

That's not what I wanted to hear. Then I guess that changes my plans. I have nothing but complaints about the internal speaker on the 765 model and also problems with the FM transmitter. I want to pair the unit with my Bluetooth phone and was planning on installing the PIE aux unit so I could run a line out to my truck stereo. Now I guess that won't work very well.

I can't see having my radio "tuned" to the AUX just to wait for a phone call. I was hoping that the internal speaker of the 765 would still work even with the line out hooked up. That way I could have heard a phone call come in on the 765, and then push the AUX button on the radio to switch it to the radio speakers.

Oh well, I'll just hope the internal speaker isn't as bad as everyone says.

Re: Nuvi 765t headphone jack/audio-line out

dooger54,

That would have been a great plan, but maybe I have some good news?

I have pretty much overcome the low volume of the 765T with two things.
First, the lastest update (of just a few days ago) included an "audio" update. It definately improved the volume and overall sound. In addition, the Jack and Jill voice and two British english voices were recently updated and sound clearer and Jill and Emily especially talks better.

Second, the big improvement is the voice editor program. Very easy to use, it slows down or speeds up the voice, and you can change the volume. This adds a dramatic improvement. When the 765T is plugged into the cradle, the volume is now quite acceptable. The program is at TurboCCC TTSVoiceEditor

An additional improvement is his Voice doctor that fixes the way the voices pronounce certain words.
