| Mapsource Newbie Question
Greetings all, My wife was real kind and got me a 265WT for Christmas. I love it. (first device). I spent the next few days (she regrets the purchase now ) hunting for a way to create POI and locations on my PC and upload them to the GPS.Here is the big question. I know that Mapsource does NOT contain any maps. If I buy Mapsource.. ($27 + shipping) Do I need to shell out an additional 74 bucks for the City Navigator NT DVD then an additional 56 for the 2009 updates Or can I use the existing map that is stored on the GPS? Cheerios!! Karl |

If you buy City Nav, it comes with Mapsource. So no need to buy it if you are planning to buy the City Nav DVD.

This still confuses me. MapSource is free. What do people offer that make it worth paying money for it? Garmin: MapSource Updates & Downloads Oh, and welcome to the site, skyrider117 |

Dav, I followed the link and downloaded MapSource 6141, but it won't work unless I already own a version of MapSource?

I think you mean a MapSource product. There is a post on here about how to get around that obstacle... because Garmin offers one free MapSource product on their website. I'll try to see if I can locate it. Here, try this post: New to GPS, got a 780 for Christmas Also, MapSource does contain a "basemap". Not much info, but there is a map in it. And, once it is installed, it will probably recognize the map in your nüvi. |

You are the best I googled and found the training center program and installed it. Than installed MapSource and all is well. Thanks.
