what Map software to use on Venture HC?

I recently purchased the etrex venture HC and the map software that comes with it is pretty poor. I would like to replace this with a more detailed topo map for the entire US. I noticed that Garmins Topo US 2008 just goes to 1:100000 scale. Can anyone recommend one that goes to 1:24000 scale that I could download to my device??

mark3158, as far as we know the Garmin units only accept Garmin maps. If you do not find a Garmin Topo that suits your needs (they do have some 24K and plans for more) you may be out of luck for the Venture.

If you find another alternative for the Garmin, please let us know. Others want that, too.
