Nuvi 205W SD Slot, What can I put on it?

Hello all,

I'm a heavy computer user, but a complete newb when it comes to GPS Units.

I received the Garmin Nuvi 205W today as a birthday present, and I noticed it comes with a SD card slot. I happen to have a extra 2gig SD card.

My question is, what exactly can I put onto the card? I'm assuming map updates (can anyone confirm?) and pictures (the unit has a .jpeg viewer in it) but is there anything else? Are there any type of 'hacks' out there for it?

Also, if I can update the maps, are they free to download? Do I just drag and drop the files onto the SD card, or does the card need any root files with it as well?

Sorry for these basic questions, but if any expert on this could help me out you'd make my birthday complete today!

Thanks in Advance,
Andrew

Happy (belated) Birthday, Andrew!

What can you put on it?
pictures
mp3s
new maps
routes
geocache destinations
points-of-interest

Any hacks? basically, none that I know of

Do you just drag and drop? Sometimes... depends what you are putting on it. Using map handling software (MapSource, POILoader, GoogleEarth, EasyGPS, etc) there is usually a "transfer to/from GPS" button or menu option. For pictures and songs, just drag and drop. Some things, once on your GPS, need to be "installed". There will be options on the GPS for doing that, and it is very much model specific, so no details here.
