2009 Map Update Error 2350 during installation

Additional Details: During the Map 2009 Update I received this error msg: The cabinet file 'Disk1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. [ABORT] [RETRY] [IGNORE] Clicking "RETRY" or "Ignore" results with "Internal Error 2350".

Map Update continued and ended with -> "The GPS update succeded, but there were errors during the computer update.

What do I need to do? The disc was clean. I'm running Windows XP and from some reviews I read, I went ahead and updated Windows Installer. Not sure that will resolve the issue.

Should I just rerun the Map Update disc or can I do that?? Garmin Software Support is usually a 40min wait. (Ridiculous)

Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks

Re: 2009 Map Update Error 2350 during installation

Hi mabrant, welcome to the site!

Did you check your gps and see if they loaded correctly?

I think the error you are seeing is the same error I got when I upgraded my Nuvi 660. I don't remember getting the part about the disk1.cab file, but at the end it did say the same as you got, "The GPS update succeeded, but there were errors during the computer update."

That last error just means the it didn't update Mapsource on your computer with the new 2009 data.

Re: 2009 Map Update Error 2350 during installation

Thanks for your reply !!

It does say Map 2009 on my GPS. That should be Ok.

I did finally receive a reply from Garmin Product support -> The update also loads the new maps to your computer and it appears that is what failed.

I thought it loaded to the computer and from the computer transferred to the GPS? I then assumed if I received a failure loading to my computer, there would/could be some sort of issue loading to the GPS? Even though it does say Map 2009 on the GPS.

Re: 2009 Map Update Error 2350 during installation

With the update discs, it loads the map data directly onto the device (when the GPS is one that came with City Nav preloaded). Then it updates Mapsource. Which failed with that error.

Would you happen to know what directory it loads to on the computer?

Thanks
