Garmin Nuvi 250 Plus from Japan

Hi there,

I am new to this forum.
I am wondering if anyone can help me with getting Canada maps loaded onto my newly purchased

Garmin Nuvi 250 Plus

From Japan (with internal maps of japan).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the site!

I think the first step is buying the Canadian maps.

thanks for the reply. Where can I buy them in Canada? I am also curious it will be a SD card kind of thing or a internal installation.

Garmin's site lists the available maps on the "maps" tab.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=6324

Looks like they have a Metroguide Canada. I just checked my City Nav North America and it has Canada detail as well.

Depending on how much free space there is on the 250, it may require a memory card to store the map.

The link only allows people living in United States to purchase directly from the site

Yes, but right at the top by the picture of the 250 there is a link: Where to Buy that lets you search for dealers in Canada.

ended up finding the maps on ebay. most of those dealers just carry the gps itself and not the sd card maps etc.
