Installing City Nav on 2nd PC

I have City Navigator NT 2009 for use with my Edge 705. I installed it on my desktop PC during product installation, and everything seemed to go OK with the online unlock process.

Now I'm installing it on my laptop, which I was told was OK as long as I use it with the same GPS device. But how do I unlock the maps in Mapsource on this 2nd PC? Whenever I start Mapsource it tells me about the locked maps, and then takes me to the online Garmin unlock page. The only thing I can do from there is "retrieve" my unlock code. This shows success, but my maps are still locked in Mapsource.

I have seen some discussion about an "Unlock Wizard" and exporting the codes to a file on the 1st PC and importing them on the 2nd PC, but I can't find anything in Mapsource that would appear to do this. The window that pops up when I start Mapsource only gives me the option of going online.

I also have a serious problem with the Mapsource installation on my desktop PC, but I'll put that in a separate thread.

Re: Installing City Nav on 2nd PC

Do you have the 25 digit code you get when you unlock a map? I recently did a reinstall of my system which meant re-unlocking all my mapping products. The only way I found to get it working was to enter that 25 digit code. The short code that comes with a product just kept telling me it was already unlocked.

Thanks for the reply. I do have that code, which I found under my MyGarmin account, but did not see how to enter it in Mapsource. The Garmin site talks about entering it in the "Unlock Wizard", but maybe I was looking at the wrong place to find out how to get to the wizard. Mapsource doesn't have that many menu selections, so it seems like I should be able to find it. I'm at work right now but will check again when I get home.

OK, I found where to enter the 25-digit code and all is well.
