KNA-G510

I just bought this unit and I saw that on other Garmin Units you can customize the icon of the car. Since my car file is available I would like to place that into the KNA-G510. How do you do this.

I am a newbie with customizing the Garmin Units, so be easy on me please.

Oh yeah I am a newbie here so thanks in advance for the help.

Re: KNA-G510

I don't think you can, but if you find a way, I'll certainly be eager to know as well.

Re: KNA-G510

The unit needs to be attached to a computer. Is there any form of interface on the KNA-G510? (I'm not familiar with them).

If you can plug a laptop into it, you can do it. But if the only interface it has is the CD/DVD drive (the case with my in-dash unit), then you probably just can't do it.

Re: KNA-G510

The KNA-G510 has both a mini-usb connector and an SD card slot. You can connect it to a computer in Garmin mode or in mass storage mode. In mass storage mode it appears as two removable drives, one for the internal storage and one for the SD card slot. But that does not mean that it supports Garmin | Garage as do the Nuvi, Zumo and some of the Streetpilot models. If it does, then you may find useful instructions here: Garmin | How to Install

I do have a KNA-G510, so I'll give it a shot later this evening and let you know what happens for me, if anything.

Time passes....several hours later:

The KNA-G510 firmware does not appear to have any such thing as a SETTINGS->MAP->VEHICLE button. It does have a SETTINGS->NAVIGATION->VEHICLE setting, but that's something completely different that appears to affect the way routes are computed.

As per the Garmin garage how-to mentioned above, I did place some Garmin Garage vehicle files into the garmin\vehicle directory on the GPS, but that didn't change the arrow by itself nor did it cause any new or changed settings buttons to magically become available that would permit such a change. I also tried placing the same files onto the SD card with the same negative result.
