Inputing GGA String into a Garmin

Hello,

I have been trying to find a way to over write the internal GPS of a garmin with an external NMEA sting. The reason for this is that we use fairly precise survey equipment which is tailored for under canopy work. We then generally use the garmins for rough navigation. When under rough canopy we often have problems with the garmins navigation. I heard that there was third party software that could help me with this. Does anyone know where I might find it, or what it is called??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
