| Mapsets and SD cards????
I am new here, so I appologize if this has been covered before. I have research this site and read alot on this subject. I am running a 76csx, currently have a 2 gig SD card loaded (because a tech person from Garmin told me that was the largest card this unit would handle. I have a 4 gig card as well but have not tried it yet, thats my next step. I have read on here that some have tried and used an 8 gig SD card. The information on Garmins site states all SD cards will work, but the maximium number of mapsets a unit will read is 2,025. My question is, is a mapset considered the individual list that shows up on the left of mapsource as you pick areas to upload? If so, I have tried to research the net to find any documentation as to the number of mapsets per cd/dvd. Any one run into this information? My original plans was to try and load 4 different series on a card big enough, but for all I know one cd/dvd has over 2,000 mapsets itself. I did notice that the City Nav. 2009 if all were to uploaded was 1.7 gig, but not sure that means anything other than total size compared to mapsets? |

Welcome to the site! The mapset is the file Mapsource creates when it uploads map data to the device. It uses the individual areas you selected that show up in the list on the maps tab. It doesn't seem to matter how many maps are listed. I haven't run into a limit on the mapsets myself but the largest card I've used is a 2 gig. |
