Add europe maps to nuvi 760

Hi to all. First time here.

I have an eTrex HCX with which I installed the Europe maps onto the microSD card.

I now have the nuvi 760 and I wanted to do the same to it. I have a 4gig card that it reads (it has pics and mp3s), but after using the same process I used for the eTrex (maps transfer), the nuvi will not display the European maps. I installed them onto the card under a folder the program created called 'garmin'. That did not work though. So I copied the 'gmapsupp' file onto the unit directly and still nothing.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, the Europe map does not show in the 'Info' section of the nuvi, only the NT2009 maps shows up.

Thanks to all.

Mig

Re: Add europe maps to nuvi 760

Just thought of something. Could it be that the map has to be unlocked for the nuvi? It did not prompt me so I'm guessing that it should work.

Could this be the issue? Please help.

Hi Mig, you're right the map data on some map products is limited to only device. It uses the serial number of the device to determine the eligibility of the map product.
to the site!

Re: Add europe maps to nuvi 760

Thanks Andy, that's what I figured was happening after the fact. I guess I'll have to unlock the European maps to the 760. $$$ $$$

I'll post back next week when I get it all figured out.

Re: Add europe maps to nuvi 760

I know how you feel. I wanted to update my 660 and 76CSx with the 2009 City Nav North America. Garmin says I need to buy 2 updates. So far only the 660 has the new map. I'm still trying to decide if the changes are worth the price for the 76CSx.

Re: Add europe maps to nuvi 760

Well I guess I didn't have a choice . I dished out the extra $$$ for the updates to my 760. Now I'm semi happy only because of the $$$ but other than that, .

Now I'm playing around with csv files (poi). Very interesting.
