Garmin Mobile XT + BT GPS question

I just purchased Garmin Mobile XT (4.20.30ws) for my Smartphone, a Samsung SPH-i325. It was listed as being compatible on the Garmin website. I already had a GPS receiver, an i.Trek M3 that I used for a couple of years with my previous smartphone.

'Should' this combination work? When I go into the Garmin software on the phone, it just says 'Searching for Satellites' forever. I went into the settings menu, and it lists a GPS Intermediate Driver. I can then go to GPS Info, and it says 'Acquiring Satellites', but there are none.

I don't want to buy a new GPS receiver if I don't have to.

Thanks!
