| First GPS..Nuvi 760 Hi, I'm just getting used to our first GPS device (Nuvi 760) and really love it but wonder if something can be done that I am unable to figure out. Is there any way to set a destination or via point without naming a street or POI at that destination...in other words, a way to just enter a town without a street address? I just want to be routed thru the town, no specific address involved. |

Welcome to the site, Pude! ![]() If you are creating a route on the GPS, you can just touch the screen where you want a waypoint. You do need to be careful to put the point on the road you are travelling, or it will take you off the main route to that waypoint. Next possibility is to use an intersection. The intersection of the road you will be travelling and Main St., for example. Enjoy. ps: strict answer to your question, no. No vague destinations, it goes to an actual Lat/Long. Some mapping programs (like Google Earth) assign a generic Lat/Long to zip codes or cities, so if you use them to build the route you can kind of do what you are asking, but not really. Your GPS unit will still want to take you to the exact Lat/Long. |
