Nuvi 760 Freezing

Hi everyone. I updated my Nuvi 760 to the latest software version via the Garmin web updater a couple of days ago That was the first update I have made to it since purchased December last year.

Since the update the Nuvi keeps freezing.

It starts ok and goes for a little while then just stops. You have to turn it off and then it goes gain for a bit then stops.

I have tried it just on internal battery power (fully charged) and it just turn off. Turn it on and then it freezes after a short while. This is driving me nuts. I am takin git back to the place I got it and they said if it needs any work Garmin here in Australia have at least a 2 week turnaround. great. I flying to LA Sep 2 and need to use it on the road for 3 weeks. Hope it's nothing too serious.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Try resetting it.

I have restored it via settings. Still freezing.

Oh well it's off to where I got it from on Monday afternoon so they can check it. Just hope like hell it's resolved before I leave Sydney.

I guess you have updated your 760 to firmware v3.1. Suggest you try to install v3.0 instead. I have read about freezing etc from users after updating their 760s to v3.1.

You can get the older versions from this site if you need it - Index of /perry/nuvi

Thanks alwaysGPS. That is exactly what happened. I thought it might have been the problem so took the 760 back to the retailer and they put it back to v3.0.

I would not suggest loading any firmware on your GPS that did not come directly from garmin.com.

Garmin even recommends this on their website, and sends you to another link for older versions. I'll try to find it again...

nope, can't find it. I must have been dreaming...
