Nuvi 360 sending me on two-lane roads!?

On the last several trips I've been "trusting" my Nuvi 360 to select a send me on a route that takes the fastest time and it been sending me down two-lane, stop-light roads. These are trips I've taken without my Nuvi, and been able to travel the distance in les time than it's calculating. What setttings can I change to have the Nuvi send me alternate routes? Thanks!

Re: Nuvi 360 sending me on two-lane roads!?

The problem here is that "fastest time" is calculated as the speed limit for the road x the distance travelled. GPS units are not smart enough to take stop lights into account, since they are a variable. So they are simply ignored.

If your GPS has such a setting, you can set it to prefer highways.

Other than that, it is how they work, settings won't be able to change this particular behavior.

You might try "shortest distance" instead of "quickest route".

Oh, and Welcome to the site!

I've had that happen mostly with the shortest distance setting. That setting seems to always pick the shortest, which may be taking some parallel side roads to highways/freeways. It probably depends on the model though. Garmin seems to adjust it's routing portion of the software quite a bit.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try and change some of the settings on the unit, and as you suggest, keep updating the software in hopes, Garmin will make a change.

And don't be shy with Garmin. If you find a feature you don't like, email them and request what you want.

This is exactly how the Zumo got an elevation display and some other features it lacked at initial release.
