Hello,
I am very novice about GPS but i have collect a eTrex GPS. And now I want to make a Map from my House to University (simply 2km distance).
Though I am novice , I dont know how make a map for a particular area and what is the other criteria for this?

You can share anything about this, that may be helpful for me.

As far as I have seen, Garmin devices are limited to the maps they sell. I haven't see any user creatable maps for a Garmin.

Thanks , But it is not clear for me because i am novice about creating map.So You can share more details about ,how it is possible to create a map ? It may be a cable connect to Computer and GPS. Then....

Is it possible you mean route, instead of map?

The map is already in the unit, or is loaded as a package from Garmin. You cannot make a map.

But using the installed map, you can design a route from one location to another.

Is this what you are trying to do?

Thanks dav. Now I know following issue from your post:
1. If I want to locate a specific path, i must have a map of that area in Garmin eTrex receiver device.
2. And this map must be provided by the Garmin eTrex company.
3. I can route from one location to another.

and now my question is :
1. If I connect my eTrex to Computer, which software is best for reading data form eTrex?
2. Actually my teacher has said that i have to make a map from my house to University via eTrex that must be connected to Computer/Laptop . You can imaging this is ontest.
3. how a map is realy created ? which format ?
