KNA G-510 occasional XM and GPS shutdown issue

I have a KNA G-510 and for some time now I have been experiencing a simultaneous drop out of maping images and xm signal. When this occurs the unit will "reboot" as if I turned the key to start the car. This condition happens about every 10-15 minutes. I have recently uploaded the 3.60 update in hopes that it would carry a correction to this condition.

I looked back at previous updates and forund that there have noticed that update 2.9 corrected various shutdown problems, so perhaps this issue has been corrected in an earlier update.

If my problem was correctable in an earlier update can I go back and get that update?

I could use some advice, my installer is checking with his Tech support people but I thought I would lend a hand.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Re: KNA G-510 occasional XM and GPS shutdown issue

Hey Griggzy, welcome to the site

It sounds like there is an issue with the G-510 itself. If you're running a 3.6 version of code, it should be a rollup of the prior code fixes so you shouldn't need to load the 2.9.

Is there a way to verify that the 3.6 'took' properly and that the unit didn't get a good software flash.

There may be a much easier answer, but from what I know so far it sounds like the 510 unit itself is a problem.

I'd be interested in what the end result is too...once you do get it resolved.

Good luck

Max, Thanks for the reply. I did go to the "about" screen and checked the software version and it does say that the 3.60 is operating. I will follow up on here with a resolutution.

Re: KNA G-510 occasional XM and GPS shutdown issue

The tech support at Kenwood/Garmin determined that the Nav computer went bad and they replaced the hideaway unit. The real cause may never be known but at least I won't get lost.

Tanks all for reading.

Wow, that is great news - at least you're rolling again and sounds like aside of the physical replacement, it wasn't too much of a painful ordeal

how old is the system? is it still in warranty?

Max - The whole transaction was at no charge so I guess it was. My Dealer is Access AUdio in Royersford, PA (shameless plug for a good shop) and has done all my custom audio work for years.
