Map update question

I got the 2009 update and loaded it, at least it seem to load. My question is where on the GPS can I see if the newer version is loaded? This is a Garmin nuvi 200W. And when I up from mapsource to the gps, where is it saved and how do I access it on the gps. Thanks for the help.

Re: Map update question

If you go to the Settings section, then go to Map, there should be a button at the bottom of the screen that says Map Info.

Re: Map update question

Keith,

I hope you will be able to help with my problem. I just received mu Garmin Nuvi 660 (July 31). There was an map update available and I downloaded it to my Nuvi.

Now when I turn on the unit I get a message "unable to unlock maps" and when I try to enter an address I get "no information available". Do I have to use an unlock code to unlock the maps?

I went to the Garmin website and tried several approaches (redeeming unlock code, etc.) but without any luck. I have sent my problem to the website experts but am still awaiting a reply.

When I turn on the unit there is a loading the maps bar which makes me think the maps are not completely loaded. However, when I did the mapinstall it stated that "the maps have been loaded and you can now disconnect from your computer and use you GPS".

I am just so new at this and am puzzled as what to do. Of course, before I did the map update everything was working fine.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Map update question

Hello everyone,

I went through the download process once more and now the map info is on my Garmin. I guess I just didn't download correctly the first time.

Thanks.

Re: Map update question

Glad to hear you got it working. When I updated my 660, it took a long time to download. I think it was at least an hour.

Re: Map update question

Andy,

Thanks. It took me even longer (about an hour and a half). I don't know what the problem was on the first try but everything is fine now. I am looking forward to using it.
