Problem with map source talking to GIS

Hi all, first post here, so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place or if I'm repeating anything, but I did search first so here goes.

I've been collecting some research data in Borneo (Sabah) using a G 60CSx, and have map data in ArcMap 9.2 for the area I was working in. The GPS unit was set to Position format Borneo RSO and Map Datum Timbalai 1948, which is the system the GIS data is in.

Now, the problem is when I download the points into Mapsource and save as .dxf file to open in GIS, when I open in GIS, the points are about 300km away from the site I was working. One potential problem seems to be that Borneo RSO isn't offered in mapsource in the preferences as a Grid, though Timbalai 1948 is as a datum. Also, when I save as a .dxf it offers to either save as eitehr decimal degrees or UTM coordinates, so I'm not sure if this is contributing (being new to this as I am, my basic knowledge is weak).

I have contacted Garmin (UK) and they suggested settings for a grid using User defined grid, but this hasn't worked either.

So, apologies for the long build up, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Frank
