Which maps, topo or navigator

Hello, I'm new to this site and GPS use. I'm thinking about buying a 76CSx. I need to know which maps I should purchase with the unit and maybe which accessories. I used a Garmin GPS V briefly at another job to measure burned acreage, but that's about my limit on experience.

The purchase will be used for various tasks. I'll use it to measure acreage, use the compass, driving directions turn by turn, ect.

Which set of maps should I buy, topo or city navigator? Do the topo maps have the roads overlayed, including small dirt roads? Which maps have the most zoom ability? What version of either should I get? I'll buy a larger card to transfer the maps to.

Sorry for all the questions. I wanted to start out on the right foot for a change.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the site Napi46!

Out of the box, the 76CSx has turn-by-turn directions on the major highways in the basemap. If you need more than that, you'll need City Navigator. The 76CSx supports both versions, NT and non-NT. I would get the NT, 2009 version (that is the latest).

Re: Which maps, topo or navigator

Thanks Andy. I may start with one set of maps and if I don't like 'em I'll have to bite the bullet and buy the others.
