Re: Top Speed on gps60 download how

Hey evo,

Using Garmin's Mapsource application the speeds are recorded in the 'tracks' section of your GPS. As long as you have the tracklog set to on, you should be all set when you connect to your pc w/mapsource.

This won't show you the same 'max speed' screen you can see on the unit, but it will give you a track on the screen (and the data on mapsource) that shows the exact location/time/date/etc. of that recorded speed.

As for the top speed data, are you looking for an application that will gather your stats over a course and track/plot it? or are you just looking for bragging rights?

If the latter, you should either buy the registered version of Google Earth so you can display the track data on their satellite overlay cause it looks cool or find the file in mapsource and post it up here. A few of us (myself included) have GE if you don't want to drop the $

Re: Top Speed on gps60 download how

Here, see the attachment...it's a shot of the track data (pulled from my 60csx) and I then double clicked the track, and it shows all the points in the track. The unit derives it's top speed from this track, or at least it always seems to have in my history.

The only difference is in this example I removed the lat/long from it to prevent anyone getting the wrong idea

The other option is Ximage...link below:
Garmin: xImage Updates & Downloads

Not sure if it will work on the 60csx, but if it does - you could easily pop over to the main screen and then take a snap of the screen. Not too autoritative, but it would give ya something.

So, if you do not have tracks on - yeah, the unit just stores the max speed in it's memory. Just taking a look at one of the units that has no logging on and it still stores the max speed, but no idea where. Yeah that is kinda frustrating. Don't think you can dump that data.

Thanks . All I will say is it was NOT on a public way...
(and definitely not with the vehicle in my present avatar .)

Unfortunately I do not have the Google earth for that specific track - just a screen dump I made from it.

Re: Top Speed on gps60 download how

my top speed has always culminated with the spots on the track but what you said I guess is right, hmm. Are your track settings set to auto or by time or distance? Setting them to every .10 of a mile might help you out?
