| Connection problems
I recently discovered the free map update that I get with my new Nuvi 350 but I can't get anything to work. I can't get the web updater to work, says it detects devices but they don't have the capabilities, or something. Tried updating the usb drivers, keeps saying to connect my device when it's already connected. Can't get the map update to work. I'm using the cable that came with it, tried switching USB ports, nothing works. Please help. |

Hmm, what is the OS you're trying to run this on? (assuming windows something...keep reading) If you look in My Computer do you see a drive labelled as GARMIN or NUVI? For me it's a G: drive, but yours could be any letter depending what you have for peripherals. How friendly are you with the Windows Device Manager?

I finally broke down and called Garmin support. Waited on hold for about 45 minutes before I got someone. He e-mailed me updated firmware and after installing it manually, it now works properly. I have nice new maps, that actually show my street, (woohoo!) and Webupdater can see my unit. Yay!

Wow, cool - I guess you can disregard my comment in the other thread about callling Garmin TS On the plus side...scale of 1-10, how do you rate Garmin TS?

Pretty bad having to wait that long... but it makes it feel a little better when they do manage to resolve the problem. I prefer to email and see if they can fix it that way... takes longer for turnaround time maybe, but less actual time for me devoted to the problem. |

I also should add in that the 45 minutes isn't normal and does suck I called them (and got through two different departments) a few weeks ago around 4pm EST and the total call was ~20 min. Not bad.

Well, I called Tuesday the 20th and it was about 9am Pacific. I did get a human almost right away but, after hearing my problem, he quickly bumped me up the chain. That bump is what took so long. The second guy I talked to seemed pretty knowledgeable and he was polite. Other than the long wait time, I was pretty happy with the experience. Especially since my problem got solved. So, on a scale of 1-10 I'd give them a 6.5 only because of the long wait time and having to be bumped up a level. If the wait time had been down to around ten minutes with the FIRST person being able to solve my problem, they would have gotten a 9 or so. I'm still liking this Garmin a lot better than my LG, which had old maps, NO UPDATES and pathetic tech support and better than that Mio I had for a total of two days before returning. I kept looking at the Garmins but kept getting enticed away from them either by price or by some fluffy feature I didn't really need. |
