Running two different mapsourse

Hey Guys....Hello,
I have a question regarding a Garmin NUVI 250.Is it possible to run two map areas on my Garmin, currently I have Europe, but I want to take my Garmin to the US and intend to put North US on a SD card, is this possible

I hope that someone can advise me, thanks..

Re: Running two different mapsourse

Models differ - but as far as I know you can have all the maps (unlocked) that you want.

It's just that you can only have 1 active at a time.

(relocated the thread into Garmin discussion)

What you are doing sounds feasible though I have not done it myself. As long as both mapsets are unlocked for your device however - this should not be an issue.

I am interested in the outcome - because every time I try this it tells me that my maps aren't unlocked for whatever unit I am trying them on...which gets annoying cause they are.

Re: 2 different Mapsources

Right off hand I do not think so, but not having tried it, cannot say for sure.

My understanding is that replacing the map does a full memory reset back to factory defaults, though.

I will try it tonight and let you know - though I can only go between topo and regular us maps...but I'll give it a shot and see what I can do.

As far as I know Garmin Mapsource will name each file to allow more then one map to be loaded onto certain Garmin units. Mobile XT for PDA only uses one map file name so any new loads (different areas) overwrite the existing map.
