HCx routing question

Hi, I'm new here and am hoping someone can answer this.

(BTW, was on the phone with 'Bob' from Garmin support who really had NO CLUE. He fumbled along, pushing buttons with me for half an hour on the phone before telling me that I needed the computer program to do this)

Anyway, I live in the Hamilton, Ontario and I am travelling to Lone Pine, California. My friend is driving there from Duncan, BC, Canada. I simply want to see what (turn-by-turn) route he'd take to go from Duncan to Lone Pine.

Every time I create that route the HCx starts at Hamilton (my current location), then gives me directions how to get to Duncan, and then on to Lone Pine.

I don't want to go from Hamilton-Duncan-LP, just Duncan-LP.

I'm sure this unit has the technology. Can someone offer advise?

Thanks in advance.....Karl

Re: HCx routing question

Welcome, Urbansherpa!

My nuvi does this with no problem, so I am going to have to defer to one of the folks that has and uses an HCx.

No help here, but wanted to say hi and let you know people are looking at your posts!

Karl!

Can you set waypoints at Duncan and LP? Then create a new route between those points.

Re: HCx routing question

Got it figured out!

I need to turn off the 'looking for satellites' part and put it in demo mode. Can then proceed, otherwise it always starts my route from current location.

The first time I called Garmin the rep named 'Bob' futzed around for half an hour to no avail. I spoke to Garmin 'Larry' yesterday who knew immediately what to do. Thanks all.

Re: HCx routing question

Glad you got it figured out. Good thinking to call them back and try talking to some one else.
