| Decision: Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX or GPSMAP 76CSX???
Which would be best for all around use on/off the water, in the woods, etc.? Checked the specs of each and found the 76CSX has slightly larger display, it floats, includes a larger capacity SD Card, but it is slightly larger unit than the 60CSX. Other than that they appear to be almost identicle in features and ability. I spend alot of time in the woods and will be carrying the unit with me there, so not sure if size of the unit should be a concern or not. I have heard of Garmin rebates on some of these units. Where can I find rebates (if any) for these units? Thanks for any helpful information. Dave davisalf@aol.com |

Here is their promotions page. That is the only source I am aware of for rebate info.

These 2 are the same except for what you mentioned already. It comes down to whether or not you want a belt clip and how you like the button layout. They both perform identically.

I have found both units for the same price online. It seems you actually get a bit more for your money with the 76CSX. If the units are in fact identicle in every aspect except what has been mentioned, I would choose the 76CSX. I have to wonder if there is not some difference though. Why would Garmin make two units so much alike? As I have mentioned I will spend most time in the woods and on the water to lesser degree. I want the best unit for these uses and the most durable. It seems the 76CSX being capable of floating would be more water proof and/or water resistent which is a valuable feature for me. Unless I discover some disadvantage or negative about the unit, I will likely go with the 76CSX. Thanks, Dave |

The waterpoof part is the same. The 76CSx floats because of the case design. I've heard the 60CSx will float without batteries and nearly floats with light weight lithiums.
