For all those who ever pull a trailer with their car or drive an RV, be aware that the new and "improved" (ha!) 7XX series gets rid of their multiple map filter modes and gives you just 3. This feature existed on the 3XX and 6XX units.

If you dont have enough money for a car but need a high end GPS for your bicycle or pocket then this is the unit for you. Seems the rocket scientists on the 7XX team thought that [Automotive, Pedistrian, and Bicycle] would be most appropriate for their high end automotive GPS systems.

If they dont come out with a patch to fix this then I am officially done with Garmin! I've called (their tech support didn't believe me but now they themselves question what happened). I've emailed several different parties yet no one responds.

If you have any more info on this gross oversight it would be much appreciated as I have been a long time Garmin customer and would like to keep it that way.

Darn, I have to say I didn't believe it but you're absolutely correct (I checked the manual briefly). Who the hell are they selling these things too?!?!

Well Max......you might still be in luck (since you ride a motorcycle)!

Seems like the brains at Garmin decided to include the Truck Mode on their new line of motorcycle specific models in the Zumo line.

Now go figure that one out!.

Get with the program Garmin and put out a patch to fix this thing already!!!!

You know, I had that thought after I read this post, didn't check the Zumo to see, but I swore there was 'ambulance' and the other 5-6 types on there as well. Sorry, I find it pretty funny that they have that on their motorcycle specific GPS but not their 'automotive' gps

Honestly - I don't think it was intentional, I am sure someone in marketing sold the revised interface as a 'simpler easier to use options set' and no one ever thought it meant removing functionality.

Much like altitude on the Zumo...I am sure we'll see an update shortly, do not worry

I sure hope you are right. I guess I am just a bit frustrated by the telephone tech support team at Garmin and their lack of knowledge on the 7XX series.

Email support finally wrote back and said they would be glad to help as they are always looking to improve their products. Seemed like a generic response but hopefully this issue will get to the right person and a patch sent soon.

I would think it's pretty straightforward to patch something like this if it's a patch.

The question is, does not having this save some resources on the machine? (like memory - if the map data has to be tagged per vehicle class, etc) or was it simply left out because much like the mph while routing display 'nobody used it'.

If it's just a patch to the unit OS then it should be forthcoming quickly if they opt to do this. If it's a mapping update, yike. But I would think it the former.
