Re: Nuvi 650

I have the 660. It's pretty close in features except the 650 doesn't have bluetooth or the FM transmistter. Both features I never use anyway. The 650 wasn't available when I bought the 660.

For what it does, it works very well. It doesn't have some features I like in the handheld line; it doesn't store a tracklog. Also it doesn't let you enter multiple destinations or stops. You can enter 1 via point, giving you a destination and then 1 stop before the destination. If you need a GPS that will let you enter multiple addresses and have it route you to each one in order, the 650 isn't for you.

I really like the widescreen and the ease of use of it. My Dad who barely mastered answering and making calls on a cell phone, can easily look up addresses and use the device without trouble. It gives really good directions. I never have to look at it when driving. Just the voice guidance is enough. Another feature I like is even when you don't have a destination set, it puts the name of the next street you're approaching at the top of the map display. This is really handy if you can't find a street sign or it's blocked from view.

I've had it for over a year now and it has never had any problems. I am not using the latest firmware. I prefer the way traffic information is displayed on an earlier release.

What kinds of features are you looking for?

Re: Nuvi 650

I recently bought a 650 and so far like it a lot. I've been looking to see if there is any new firmware. Does anyone know of any?

Re: Nuvi 650

Hey Teach

Here is one application that will tell you:
Garmin: Web Updater

Also, in our forums we keep current with any new code announcements in case you don't want to run the application:
Garmin Software Updates - GPS Discussion
(you can select it from search menu too)

I'd give you a definite answer, but the garmin site doesen't appear to be working for me right now for some reason
