| Re: Nautical Software for Garmin ![]() You're going to be limited to what software Garmin has available. The Mapsource Bluechart or the series they have on inland lakes. |

Andy, are there other providers that you would recommend (ie) maptech etc? |

Only Garmin's products work with their units, at least that I'm aware of.

I believe that is correct, your choices are BlueChart or Inland Lakes. The decision there is what area (water) you are looking for. With either, you can get a CD/DVD or pre-programmed cards. The advantage of the card is cost and convenience. The advantage of the CD/DVD is the ability to manage things on your PC... ![]() I've only used BlueChart (it's excellent btw) so I cannot comment on the Inland Lakes product. I use the CD version because I like to do planning and review on the PC. Good luck... |

And with the USB interface, loading maps from the PC doesn't take very long unless you are doing very large areas. I just reloaded all of the US on the 2 g card in my 76CSx. It took about an hour, but that's not nearly as long as the old days of using the serial connection. I also prefer the CD/DVD version over getting a preloaded memory card for the same reasons Don mentioned. |
