Any thoughts on choices for on the water software for my Garmin GPS Map CSx 60? I am able to use either Windows of Mac format.

You're going to be limited to what software Garmin has available. The Mapsource Bluechart or the series they have on inland lakes.

Andy,
are there other providers that you would recommend (ie) maptech etc?

Only Garmin's products work with their units, at least that I'm aware of.

Re: Nautical Software for Garmin

I believe that is correct, your choices are BlueChart or Inland Lakes. The decision there is what area (water) you are looking for.

With either, you can get a CD/DVD or pre-programmed cards. The advantage of the card is cost and convenience. The advantage of the CD/DVD is the ability to manage things on your PC...

I've only used BlueChart (it's excellent btw) so I cannot comment on the Inland Lakes product. I use the CD version because I like to do planning and review on the PC.

Good luck...

And with the USB interface, loading maps from the PC doesn't take very long unless you are doing very large areas. I just reloaded all of the US on the 2 g card in my 76CSx. It took about an hour, but that's not nearly as long as the old days of using the serial connection.

I also prefer the CD/DVD version over getting a preloaded memory card for the same reasons Don mentioned.
