Erase map from BMW Navigator III / Garmin 2720/2820

Does anyone know a way to erase map from this thingie

I have citynavigator maps for US and EU and I am registered customer on Garmin database with all SN etc yadda yadda.

US map was already loaded by factory and I tried load full EU but memory runs out.

I would like to erase all maps and rather have 1 full coverage depending the continent I'm traveling, so I don't mind to erase one / download another when needed.

I travel back and forth between EU and US so maps are needed.

GSA huh, what year?

I have a 2720 , which is a notch or two below the BMW Nav III but I think the internal memory is the same. Though it has been awhile since I did this, I will grab my 2720 from the truck later today and refresh my memory for ya.

Bike is early 2007.

I have been snooping around web and it seems 2720/2820 have 2 different memory banks, a) "permanent" for map downloaded by factory and b) space for additional maps owner can download and overwrite.

I wrote to Garmin asking about this but never got answer so them.

At least if someone would have a way to connect it to computer as memory card but I haven't found program that would show it as additional drive.

Nice machine, have you seen the 08's yet? at least the new GSA's are ok but the GS's are now.
Mine is a late 07 (GS non-Adv.), I just couldn't convince myself to take it places I take the KLR, so I kept the KLR

My 2720 just came home (she took my truck to work today) so I will try to tinker with it tonight and see what I can figure out. I was positive I've done this, but I might be thinking of my 2610.

Yep I saw 2008 and I do agree you about the look. They seem to try to make it more sophisticated to be alike highschool prom queen and I had my share with those idiots so no more

06-07 GS and A is more pure workhorse what I was looking for and takes me beyond my skills and less ridden roads...

Back to the business, I tried to use "erase user information" but it seems to be general "restore defaults" erasing user set ups and waypoints but it doesn't affect maps.

Sorry for the distractedness - I keep forgetting to get the 2720 and try this . I've been oncall the past week so I've been a bit scatterbrained, but I really will check this out tomorrow, really.

Re: Erase map from BMW Navigator III / Garmin 2720/2820

Im lost...it seems I can push new maps onto the device and they magically go somewhere - but there isn't really ever an option to get rid of the others.

I'll post up the photos I took of the inside of my 2720 though if you'd like, since I was really curious what they used for embedded memory

Re: Erase map from BMW Navigator III / Garmin 2720/2820

Thanks and sure I'd like to see what these machines have eaten

Finally I got same emails from Garmin and they said 2720 should show up in "my computer" folder as additional drive so there would be access to memory if needed.

I can't find it from "my computer" but Mapsource shows it and download/upload works fine??

I have flight to catch tonight so I'm gone for couple weeks....

I guess I could one of these days...as far as memory goes, it's all internal and/or shielded, no CF or anything to speak of. But I will try to get the photos up here soon
