Remove Data from GPS Handheld

How do I remove an entire coverage area (maps, waypoints, and tracks) from the GPS (to free up the memory and declutter the waypoints list, etc), and put on maps and waypoints for an entirely different area of the US?

I've got an eTrex Vista HCx.

Re: Remove Data from GPS Handheld

Mapsource should let you clear out everything on the GPS and send new data.

Yeah, but how? I've looked through the MapSource documentation, and it does not discuss it. There is a section on removing map sets from MapSource, but not clearing the GPS unit.

Re: Remove Data from GPS Handheld

From the eTrex manual,

To clear out everything except the map data, hit Menu, then Reset to bring up the menu page.

The reset page looks like this.

Select what you want to clear and hit Apply.

To clear the map data, just open Mapsource, select the maps you want and I think it will overwrite the existing mapset when you upload them to the eTrex (that's how my 76S and 76CSx work.
