Got mapsource CN NA NT 2011.11 loaded in two computers. One has 6.16.1 and the other 6.15.6. Clicked on "Search for software updates" and one is indicating to update to 6.16.2.0 and the other 6.15.11.0.

Why are they different? I uploaded using the same download file from Garmin (I downloaded once and copied it in two computers and did the install.)

Could it be one computer for Vista and the other computer XP?

How much confidence do you have in these free (and legal, as I understand from the website) maps from OSM World Routable.

Worldwide routable Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap (http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php)

1) I really don't want to spend another $149USD if I can use free maps.
2)Secondly, I had purchased Garmin Maps for China and the government-required map offset wasn't properly adjusted as it should when I went to China.

Thanks

Colorado 400t help

Good morning, I'm new to this site and new to GPS's. Son gave me this 400t that is driving me crazy. Seems to have a mind of its own, which means I can't understand why it does what it does. One of the potential usage was to map areas of our property that have been either thinned or brushed for forestry purposes. I find that though I can archive a track, I cannot download it to my computer nor can I delete off of my GPS unit. I can only download a current track. Is this the way it is supposed to be or do I just not understand.

Another frustration is that though I can be on a spot, say a starting point, then make a circuit and come back to that same spot and have it be 20-30 feet off. Or walk the same track, indentical, and show up as 20-30 feet different on sperate track that are placed on the map for the entire distance of the same walk.

If anyone has any insight that would relieve my desire to bash this thing, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I picked up the Garmin 3790T today. When I went to load my routes, I found that the option was not supported. I'm really disappointed. Its a great looking GPS but I have to be able to plan my routes out on the computer and upload them to the GPS. Some of these routes can be very complex.

Can anyone recommend a Garmin GPS that will let me use mapsource to plan out routes and send them to my GPS?

The 3790T is even listed as having Multiple point routing. What am I missing here?

I just downloaded the latest map CN North America NT 2011.20 and it is in the GPS OK (Nuvi750) but I cannot see it in MapSource - It only shows the older map versions. Previous times the new maps showed on MapSource right away and I just clicked to select them. I had the latest MapSource version but I downloaded and installed it again but no luck. I restarted the computer but again no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions... Please?

What would cause it to re calculate even though you take the right turns?

Right now I have the unit turned off, I usually leave it on 24/7

Update Question?

Ok so, i plug in my GPS today to do some, assumed, much needed updating. I have yet to get the 2010 or 2011 maps, whichever is out, i only have the 2009 maps from when i bought it, regardless, i plug in my Nuvi and get to the update section. Now, i havent updated this sucker in a GOOD 8-9 months, possibly more, and i come to find out there is no software update available beyond the Ver 4.90 i have installed on it currently. Ive had this version for probably somewhere around a year. Why is there no further software updates?

Do i need to purchase and install the new 2010 or 2011 maps for the GPS to be able to run a new software update or has garmin just thrown us 760 (7 series in general?) users to the side since they have new products out?

I'm certainly not going to buy a new GPS every 2 years just so i can get updated software when my current GPS is running as well as it ran the day i opened the box.

One other question i have, which may or may not be useful, but theres a GPS Chipset, Type M that showed up for updates today in my list of available updates, however the description showed no change to anything, unless its something new that's possibly a pre-req for a new software update? Not sure on my part, however, if someone could please enlighten me on these stated issues as to whats going on and what it all means, this would be greatly appreciated and helpful.

Thanks Guys!

Has anybody built the cable needed for doing this? I can't figure out what to connect the RED USB wire to. I power my 178C with a 12V source and I KNOW it wouldn't be appropriate to attach the 5V USB output to the 12V source. I have downloaded & installed the USB drivers, but when I plug the 178C into my PC it just doesn't "see" it no matter how I attach the other 3 USB wires. The BLACK wire is Ground so that only leaves two possibilities for hooking up the COM1 TX and the COM1 RX lines and neither way seems to work. (I am interested in examining the NMEA sentence output from my 178C and that's why I'm doing this interfacing.) Any help will be greatly apprciated. Thanks.

Google Earth path to Basecamp

Hello.

I'm kind of new to creating maps and paths on my new Garmin 450t. I'm going to use it on my fall BC fishing trips. Many of the lakes I fish are located on logging roads that don't exist on many maps. I'm trying to use Google Earth as a path creater. I can see the logging roads from the satellite imagery. I've created many paths and saved them as .kml files. When I try to import those files into Garmin Basecamp I get an error stating there are no groundoverlays. Is there something I'm missing? I've tried to create a path near my home in California to see if that made a difference. It did not.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

When I try to import those files into Garmin Basecamp I get an error stating there are no groundoverlays. Is there something I'm missing? I've tried to create a path near my home in California to see if that made a difference. It did not.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello, I am new to this forum, and have a problem.
I have a Nuvi 260 that I got April, 2008. I'm happy with it, so far. My problem is with the MapSource program (City Navigator North America NT 2008, Deluxe All Regions, Apr 07). Everything was fine until I attempted to upgrade it (nüMaps Onetime™ City Navigator® North America NT 2011). It took several hours to download and install. When it finished, I attempted to start it, and when it came up the map screen was blank...no map graphics. I have searched everything I can find, to no avail. I did get one error message while messing with it. It said, "This is an unsupported OS version. Must be Windows XP SP3 or greater. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with SP2. It worked fine on this computer before the upgrade. I decided to try to uninstall the upgrade and re-install the older version, but I can't find my original CD.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Cliff

Hey all,
New here and to the gps world. I have been wanting a gps for hunting and hiking for a while. Last year I bought a 60csx but found it kind of confusing to use so I returned it. I was recently looking to try again and could not decide between oregon 450 or 62s. I ended up getting the 450. Do you think I made the right choice. Thanks.

Hi all,

I need some help please.

The routes i've created in mapsource don't seem to transfer to my etrex vista hcx! the mapset comes through but not the routes even though it says it has transferred. (I have saved the mapsets, ticked all the right boxes etc)

Is this a vista hcx issue ie it cannot read the routes from the microSD card or is there some way around it?

Anyone

However.....I quickly realized that I can't plan a route :crying:

Garmin website says the "Trip and Waypoint Manager" is compatible with the 1390T. Is it any good and can I plan a route and download it to the GPS?

If it doesn't, what GPS would work? Here's what I want:
- Bluetooth
- Route planning
- Audio turn-by-turn
- ...plus the other typical stuff
